To enhance performance, scalability, and user experience, we redesigned it and transitioned from Cordova to Flutter. This upgrade ensures a modern and seamless experience while maintaining the trust and familiarity that existing users value.

How did we start?
The client came to us with an existing app built on Cordova, but both the UX and UI required significant improvements. The app utilized encryption keys for security, so maintaining data integrity was a key priority. We rebuilt the app from scratch using Flutter, focusing on preserving user data while enhancing the overall experience. As a result, we significantly improved both the UX and UI by refining the navigation, updating the design, and simplifying interactions, creating a more intuitive and engaging experience for users.
Seamless experience
We reimagined the app’s navigation to make it more intuitive and user-friendly. The primary function—chat—now takes center stage on the main screen, making communication faster and easier. Gallery access was simplified, allowing users to view and share content with fewer taps. Other features were reorganized and moved to the profile, with clear, logical sections creating a cleaner, more structured experience. These updates make the app feel familiar, while offering a smoother interaction flow.
Fresh & engaging design
We refreshed the app's visual identity to create the right tone and atmosphere. A sophisticated color palette now brings warmth and clarity to the interface. To further enhance the user experience, we incorporated modern 3D illustrations, adding a dynamic and engaging visual layer. The elegant serif font gives the interface a polished, approachable vibe, reinforcing our focus on authenticity and meaningful connections.
Features
We took an existing Cordova app and successfully transitioned it to a modern Flutter-based app, ensuring users could easily update without any issues. The move to Flutter not only improved performance and provided a smoother, more responsive user experience across devices but also preserved the app's core features. Careful attention was given to maintain backward compatibility, allowing existing users to update seamlessly without losing data or settings. This upgrade brings a fresh design, enhanced features, and a more intuitive interface, all while ensuring a hassle-free transition for users.
Private partner connection
We retained the partner connection mechanism through a unique code, ensuring a highly private space for communication. The app includes only you and your partner, creating a safe environment for strengthening relationships.
Privacy-focused chat
We redesigned the chat to make it fully oriented toward private and secure communication. There are no other users or distractions—just you and your partner. This approach enhances the significance of every conversation and allows couples to focus entirely on their relationship.
Unique ways to connect
The chat offers distinctive functions designed to make communication more engaging. Partners can send each other invites with updated designs, use pre-set questions to spark meaningful conversations, touch each other through the screen, and share photos, videos, and GIFs. These features create a dynamic and fun space for deepening connections.
Enhanced content management
We improved media handling by introducing an organized gallery for quick access and filtering of content. We also implemented a drafts feature that allows users to prepare and save media for future sharing. These changes made managing content easier and more intuitive.
Attention to security
Security is a top priority for the Just Between Us app, and we've implemented robust measures to ensure that user messages remain safe and secure. The app uses RSA public and private key encryption, the same technology trusted by banks. Upon launching the app for the first time, a private key is generated and stored securely on the device, ensuring that users retain full control over their data and that no one else can access it without the private key.
Enhanced privacy and security features
Private Key Responsibility: The user is responsible for their private key, which is used to decrypt messages and ensure their privacy.
No Screenshots or Screen Recording: The app disables the ability to take screenshots or record the screen, preventing unauthorized access to sensitive content and safeguarding against potential misuse of private media.
Face ID or PIN Authentication: Users can enable Face ID or PIN authentication for an added layer of security, ensuring only authorized access to the app.
Extra layers of privacy protection
Blurred Background State: When the app is in the background, sensitive content is automatically blurred to maintain privacy and security.
Option to Blur Sent Media Files and Hide Push Notification Content: Users can enable a feature that blurs sent photos and videos, ensuring privacy when using the app in public or family settings, where others might unintentionally see your content. To view the media, users simply need to long press on it. Similarly, received push notifications will only display that a message was received, without showing its content, to maintain privacy in situations where others might be around.
Light & dark theme
The app adapts to the user's device settings or personal preferences, allowing them to switch between light and dark themes. Both themes are designed with soft, non-harsh colors for a more comfortable and enjoyable experience.
