Let’s look
at our
progress

2016

Chili Labs started as a small team with a handful of early projects. In the beginning, we were experimenting, learning and figuring things out as we went. There were no established processes yet, only curiosity and a strong desire to do things well. Our first year laid the foundation for everything that followed.
- Flat design (peak)
- Material Design (Google influence)
- Hamburger menus everywhere
- Huge focus on Cards (Pinterest style)

2017

The team started to grow, along with the number of ongoing projects. That’s when the evolution began: effective collaboration, structured work and clear processes started to take shape. Results became more predictable, though there was still some trial and error. Chili Labs began delivering consistently and took its first steps as an established team.
- Bold colors return
- Illustration-heavy landing pages
- Big typography
- Broken grids (elements overlapping to create depth without shadows)

2018

Chili defined its core expertise in mobile development and UX/UI. We focused on delivering higher-quality results consistently. Our approach became more refined as the team aligned around shared standards. We paid closer attention to usability and product logic, not just visuals. This year helped shape the direction we would continue to follow.
- Illustrations everywhere
- Soft shadows & depth return
- Asymmetrical layouts
- Big typography

2019

Projects became more complex, and expectations grew alongside them. We strengthened communication between designers, developers and clients, making collaboration smoother and more effective. Work became more predictable as our approach matured. Chili started to operate with greater confidence and stability.
- Neumorphism (soft UI)
- Dark mode mainstream (Apple and Google release OS-level dark modes, making it a must-have for all apps)
- Glass blur (early glassmorphism)
- 3D elements (early stage)

2020

This year, the world has changed and we had to act fast to keep the pace. Staying productive in new conditions became a key focus. Despite the challenges, remote work became a new reality, and we continued delivering projects without slowing down. It was a year that strengthened our resilience as a team.
- Soft UI declines
- Accessibility rises
- Simple, calm UI

2021

We moved beyond execution and focused more on product thinking. Understanding user needs and business goals formed the foundation of our work. Design decisions became more strategic and data-driven. Thinking shifted from individual features to the full product experience. That’s when our design received its first global recognition — the Red Dot Design Award.
- Glassmorphism is a big trend (frosted glass, blurred backgrounds, translucent layers)
- 3D illustrations (Saly style)
- Brutalism / anti-design emerges
- Motion everywhere

2022

Chili Labs strengthened its expertise in mobile development, especially with Flutter. The focus shifted toward scalable, complex apps. As internal processes improved, the team grew more confident in solving non-trivial challenges. Products launched with strong functionality and future-ready design.
- Neobrutalism (harsh black outlines, high contrast “ugly” colors)
- Gradients + mesh gradients
- Data visualization aesthetics (Spotify Wrapped style)
- UI Personalization

2023

Our work created some resonance! Chili Labs became a Google-certified Flutter consultant. We delivered even more polished, production-ready apps across diverse industries. • Team collaboration became faster and more effective • Processes were sharpened and well documented • The company was operating at a noticeably higher level
- AI-generated visuals
- 3D + immersive UI
- 3D claymorphism
- Microinteractions everywhere
- Bento grids (Apple influence)

2024

The improvements didn’t stop there. We focused on raising quality and consistency to the next level. Design systems and structured workflows became a part of everyday work. It was a year of optimisation and getting priorities right.
- AR / immersive interfaces
- Kinetic typography (text that moves/stretches)

2025

2025 marked a shift in the industry, with AI becoming increasingly powerful in a market driven by productivity. Our Flutter expertise played a key role in accelerating time-to-market for FinTech clients. At the same time, we developed internal AI tools that streamlined processes and improved efficiency for both our team and our clients.
- Human-centered UI (less robotic)
- AI-personalized interfaces
- Voice + conversational UI
- Motion and fluid interactions

2026

Today, Chili Labs is a team of 50 people building products used worldwide. We combine years of experience with current trends to create strong, future-ready apps. The way products are designed and built has evolved significantly, and we continue to adapt to new technologies, tools and challenges. This journey is far from over — the best is yet to come.
- AI-assisted design workflows
- More automated handoff to development
- Glass & blur layers
- Simpler and cleaner interfaces
- Motion used as feedback, not decoration
